All the information you need to run the most Dahlicious Roald Dahl Day in your school and become a brilliantly brave Roald Dahl character!
Taking part in Roald Dahl Day celebrations with the most Dahlicious of days is a fun-filled and educational way to raise funds in aid of Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity. Children are invited to donate £1 ore more to come to school dressed as their favourite Roald Dahl character.
It's a great way to begin the school term, engage children's imaginations and ignite their passion for reading. This year's theme is all about championing bravery, showing support for all the seriously ill children who demonstrate their bravery each and every day.
How do we get involved?
It is really easy to get your school involved, email us for more information.
Can we take part on a different day?
Roald Dahl Day is typically celebrated on Roald Dahl's birthday - 13 September, but your school can hold one whenever is convenient for you, on any day throughout the year.
Do we have to raise money for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity?
Dressing up all Dahlicious for Roald Dahl Day is a fantabulous way to help Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. The charity spends lots of time and money to produce the resources to support the day. We would ask that if you want to use these resources, please do so to raise money for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity so that we can continue supporting the seriously ill children who need our help.
Do you have any lesson plans we can use?
How do we pay in the money raised?

Will you send us a certificate?
All schools that take part and pay in their donation will receive a thank you letter and certificate. Please make sure you let us know the name and address of your school when paying in your donation so we know who to thank.
Can teachers dress up too?
Of course, everyone is invited to dress up as their favourite Roald Dahl character. We’ve even created some easy dressing up tips just for grown-ups!
