Cakes in Cafe Twit

To celebrate Veruca Salt Saturday which takes place at the Museum on 19 July, Café Twit are running a super scrumptious cake competition.

Veruca Salt is the spoilt Golden Ticket winner in Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, famous for getting her own way and having the odd tantrum or two to boot. As part of the Museum’s summer of celebrations for the book’s 50th birthday, they will be hosting a whole day of celebrations in honour of the biggest brat of Buckinghamshire (don’t worry – all the other characters will be getting their own special day too!), you’ll get to meet the Salt family, go on a squirrel trail and take part in the Rubbish Orchestra.

To add some delightful deliciousness to the festivities Café Twit are running a competition to find the perfect cake recipe for the demanding Veruca. The winner will get some fantabulous Roald Dahl goodies and the two shortlisted entries will receive a family ticket for Veruca Salt Saturday – where they will be able to see their creation in Café Twit. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to sample the two finalists’ cakes and vote for their favourite. What a tasty way to pick a winner!

So get your thinking caps on and dream up a cake that even the very fussy Veruca Salt will want. If yours is shortlisted it will be created by the café cooks and on sale on 19 July. You can download an entry form from the links on the right or pick one up in the Museum or Café, remember to hand your completed forms in by 11 July.

 Good luck!
