CHARITY HITS MARVELLOUS MILESTONE THIS INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY

May 12, 2023

Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity has achieved another incredible milestone.

For the first time in their 31-year history, the charity has over 100 Roald Dahl Nurses providing specialist care for children with serious and complex health conditions - a marvellous achievement to celebrate this International Nurses Day.

RECORD LEVELS OF CARE

Over the past 12 months, this number of nurses has translated to over a quarter of a million hours of clinical and emotional support for children and their families. A truly stupendous figure.

The specialist knowledge of Roald Dahl Nurses resulted in thousands of reduced admissions to hospital, emergency visits to A&E, and consultant appointments.

MEET MAX

Amongst these heroic children was eight-year-old Max.

Max is unable to walk, talk and is dependent on a tube for feeding. He is also registered blind and suffers regular seizures.

His foster mum Suzannah said: “Max goes through so many difficulties and so many challenges, yet his bravery and lust for life shines through all the time.”

“It is hard to put into words what Lisa (our Roald Dahl Nurse) does, and what Lisa is to us. She is the foundation that holds so many things together for us. She has taken us from a place where we were very isolated and struggling to get on top of his health, to a place where we know we are going to be okay.”

This was made possible through the generosity and support of so many wonderful people and organisations.

DO SOMETHING MARVELLOUS

This May, the charity is encouraging others to join them in a life-changing mission to raise 1 million pounds.

They are aiming to establish new specialist nursing posts that will provide long-term care for over 1,000 children living with some of the most serious and complex conditions across the UK.

With your support, these children and their families will no longer have to brave their illnesses alone.
