Livestream sessions - what we offer

We are excited to introduce our brand-new Livestream Learning sessions!

 

Bring the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre and its experts right into your classroom by booking one of these fantabulous sessions. Your session leader will connect you directly to the Museum through a mix of pre-recorded films in and around our galleries, live presentation and pre-delivered activities for your class to do with us.

 

You don’t need to be a Wonka tech wizard to enjoy this experience with your class! We will guide you through the process to make setting up your session as straightforward as possible.

Sessions are available on Buckinghamshire term-time weekdays during UK working hours. Contact us for further details on timing and availability.

Year 2-4 session: Creative Characters

45 minute session plus 10 minutes set-up time

Explore three different ways that Roald Dahl got ideas for his fantabulous characters and use two of them to start your own creative character. You’ll (virtually) walk in Roald’s footsteps to discover where his characters come from, and look closely at a very important shoe... You’ll even get a rare opportunity to look behind the scenes at a very special place in the Museum!

We will focus on the characters of Matilda, James, and the BFG, but you don’t have to have read these books to benefit from the session.

Year 5-8 session:  Creative Characters

60 minutes session plus 10 minutes set-up time

Discover 4 key techniques that Roald Dahl used to create characters before using two of these to start your own unique creation.  There’ll be a chance to experiment with Gobblefunk as well as explore the magic behind a very ordinary bamboo cane.  You’ll even get a behind-the scenes peek of somewhere special in the Museum! 

We will focus on the character of the BFG but you don’t have to have read this book to benefit from the session.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does a Livestream Learning session cost?

• £100 per 45 minute session for up to 35 students Years 2 to 4
• £120 per 60 minute session for up to 35 students Years 5 to 8

What is the capacity for a session?

All sessions are suitable for up to 35 students plus accompanying adult carers. We are unable to offer the livestream sessions to larger groups as it would make our planned activities and interaction with your class less successful.

How many classes can we book on one day?

We can run three live streaming sessions in one day. You are welcome to book as many of these as you’d like. 

What platforms do you use to livestream?

We can stream to you via Zoom or Teams. We will need to know in advance of your session which platform you would like to use so that the session can be set up accordingly.  

We are looking to book a Livestream Learning session. Can we test our tech to make sure it works in advance?

Yes, we provide a free 20 minute tech test which is carried out up to 7 days in advance of the session. This will check all our tech is working with yours. We will also go through the structure of the session and answer any questions you may have. We strongly recommend all schools take up the offer of the tech test. Tech tests usually take place after 3pm. 

How do we arrange payment for our visit?

Please contact the Learning team to arrange a provisional booking. When your school booking is confirmed we will provide the school with an invoice for the session/s. The invoice can be settled by cheque or bank transfer. Full details are included on the invoice. Payment must be made 28 days before the visit. Cancellations within 28 days will incur a 50% charge. Cancellations within 7 school days will incur a 100% charge.
