Due to the new lockdown measures, the Cafe will be closed for eat-in and takeaway for the forseeable future. 

We hope to be able to welcome you back as soon as it's safe to do so.

Opening hours

Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 4pm 

The Museum, Cafe and Shop will be closed for Christmas from 21st to 29th December, and for New Year's Day on 1st January. We'll be closed again from Monday 4 to Sunday 10 January.

Booking food to pick up at the end of a Museum tour

Visitors booked on to a Guided Visit will have the option to book Takeaway Lunch or Afternoon Tea Boxes, which will be ready to pick up after their Museum tour.

Lunch Boxes cost £8 for adults, and £6 for children.  Adults’ Lunch Boxes include ham and cheese sandwiches, a soft drink and a freshly baked scone with jam and clotted cream (veggie tomato, mozzarella and pesto sandwich option available). Kids’ Lunch Boxes contain either jam or cheese sandwiches, a soft drink, a packet of raisins and a delicious sweet treat. 

Afternoon Tea Boxes cost £12 per person and include a selection of sandwiches, sweet treats and delicious homemade scones, as well as your choice of a fabulous Twist Tea or Grand Cafe coffee. 

You can add these to your booking online, or over the phone.

Our pretty courtyard will remain open for Cafe customers and those who would like to eat their Takeaway Boxes at the Museum. We also have a limited amount of indoor seating availble on a first come, first served basis. Alternatively, visitors can use the Buryfield for a picnic, which is a short walk away.

COVID-19 safety

Social distancing and COVID-19 safety rules apply in the Cafe, so please follow the signs and guidance from our staff. All purchases from the Café help support the Museum charity.
