Charlie, who has epilepsy and is supported by Roald Dahl Specialist Nurse, Kirsten, chose to celebrate his 13th birthday with an engraved wristband as a special memory of his 2.6 challenge to raise money for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and to thank Kirsten.

Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity is pleased to announce that Sarah, aged 10, has won its Phizz-whizzing Workshops fundraising idea competition, which was judged by Doctor Who star, Jodie Whittaker, Blue Peter Presenter, Richie Driss and CBBC Presenter, Ed Petrie.

Imagine having to be careful when holding your child’s hand because his joints dislocate on a daily basis or having to take care when you cuddle him because he bruises so easily. Imagine having to co-ordinate appointments for the ten consultant teams he is under. This is life for 10-year-old Carter and his mum, Laura. Thankfully, they have the support of Roald Dahl Specialist Nurse, Tina who provides both practical and emotional care and helps Laura feel less isolated and alone.

11-year-old Thomas, who has epilepsy, has raised an impressive over £400 for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity by climbing his stairs to the equivalent height of Mount Kilimanjaro! Thomas took on the challenge because he wanted to make sure that other children with epilepsy also benefit from having a specialist epilepsy nurse like he does. He chose to raise money for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity as they provide specialist nurses across the UK including epilepsy nurses.

A drawing by renowned illustrator, Sir Quentin Blake is to be auctioned to raise money for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity’s Nurses Appeal, which was launched on the 11th May 2020 to ensure its network of 78 Roald Dahl Specialist Nurses can continue to do their vital work. Sir Quentin Blake is President and founding Patron of the Charity having been involved since its inception in 1991 when it was set up by Roald Dahl’s widow, Felicity Dahl, the year after the famous author’s death.

Will (14) who is cared for by Roald Dahl Specialist Epilepsy Nurse, Kat, has won the first-ever Rotary Young Citizen Sporting Hero Award. A talented sailor Will has been presented with this prestigious award for battling against the odds to take part in sailing championships across the world despite collapsing with a haemorrhagic stroke last year and being diagnosed with a Cavernoma and epilepsy.
