A round-the-virtual-world trip which involved colleagues from Newton Investment Management running, swimming, yoga-posing and even shimmying between their global offices, has raised a marvellous £10,000 for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity.
Altogether, 248 international colleagues from the team at Newton Investment Management (Newton) collectively covered 20,000 miles in a virtual race starting in New York and going via London, Pune, Hong Kong and back to New York.
“This has been a truly marvellous effort by the Newton team,” said Helen Nelson, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. “Thanks to the team’s efforts, we are further towards establishing another Roald Dahl Specialist Nurse post to help seriously ill children and their families in the UK. On behalf of the 21,000 young people currently in the care of a Roald Dahl Specialist Nurse - and the hundreds more we will help in the future - I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Newton team.”
Newton works for investment clients worldwide; included within its purpose is ‘to improve people’s lives’ - and it was this aim that led the company to raise funds for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
“At Newton, corporate responsibility is central to our business and our investment philosophy. We are committed to acting responsibly in all our activities, and we pursue a number of initiatives that support our values and beliefs. The virtual race was a great way for people to raise valuable funds for the important work done by Roald Dahl Nurses whilst also getting active and engaging with each other remotely.”
Colleagues clocked up mileage for the trip by walking, running, cycling, doing home workout sessions, swimming and even snow-shoeing. Additional mileage was earned through having virtual coffees with teammates and by taking part in mini photo challenges. Prizes were given to teams, with Newton donating 50p per mile to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
