Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity is thrilled to announce that Roald Dahl Specialist Nurse, Giselle Padmore-Payne has won the Child Health award at the prestigious RCNi (Royal College of Nursing Institute) Awards, which celebrate the best in nursing across the UK, from innovative projects to inspiring examples of patient care.
RCN Chief Executive, Dame Professor Donna Kinnair announced that Giselle, who specialises in transition of care and supports young people with Sickle Cell Anaemia and Thalassaemia as they move from children’s to adult services at King's College Hospital in London, had won the award at a virtual ceremony hosted on the RCNi website on Monday 5th October 2020. Dame Professor Donna Kinnair congratulated Giselle and praised her for “not only helping young people with Sickle Cell navigate the journey from child to adult services but also using her model to improve other services.”
The judges highlighted Giselle’s “enthusiastic advocacy for the young people she supports and her comprehensive programme of transition workshops and peer-to-peer support.”
Giselle said: “I am truly humbled, honoured and blessed to have won this prestigious award. I will always do my very best for our patients, their families and my colleagues. I would also like to say a huge thank you to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity for always supporting me and making the delivery of care so seamless for our patients and families.”
