We don’t want everyone to get too excited but we have rather a lot going on.

Once again, we’ve been working hard with our friends at World Book Day to make the bookiest day of the year even more exciting than before.

First things first: for the third year in a row, we are very proud to be presenting the - drum roll, please - Official World Book Day Bedtime Story! The oh-so-wonderful Stanley Tucci will be reading an extract from The Witches - tune in to our Facebook page at 7pm on World Book Day (that's Thursday 5th March) to watch... and if you can't possibly wait until then, there's a sneak peek on our World Book Day hub

What's that you cry? You want more? Of course!

We've also got the most tremendous range of costumes in all major retailers - so if whether you want to wow as Wonka, channel your inner Matilda or be as fantastic as Mr Fox then you simply must hit the shops.

You can find our costumes in Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrison's and all good independent retailers.

Or, if you're the crafty type, we've got tips and tricks galore on how to make your own costumes that are head and shoulders above the rest.

So that's your costume sorted. Well done you. But what else is there to do?

We're also extraordinarily proud to share with you the first ever World Book Day story shared in British Sign Language. The fantastic Helen from our Museum and Story Centre tells the story of Violet Beauregarde like you've never seen before - you can watch now on our World Book Day hub.

Speaking of our World Book Day hub - you can also take a look at Matilda's recommended reads, find out which character you should dress up as, and test your knowledge on our stories. There are a couple more treats... but we can't give everything away at once. That wouldn't do at all.

Oh! And for any teachery types - don’t worry. There’s plenty for you too. We’ve curated our very best lesson plans with activities ideal for World Book Day especially for this marvellous day.

Wow! What a list! We suggest you keep your eyes peeled between now and Thursday 5th March - you never know what World Book Day delights might be just around the corner...
