Charlie, who has epilepsy and is supported by Roald Dahl Specialist Nurse, Kirsten, chose to celebrate his 13th birthday with an engraved wristband as a special memory of his 2.6 challenge to raise money for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and to thank Kirsten.
Several children supported by the charity took part in the 2.6 challenge, which was set up as an alternative to the London marathon, which couldn’t go ahead because of the Coronavirus. They raised an impressive over £7,000 between them and Charlie contributed a marvellous £706 to the total by completing 26 laps of a field.
Charlie explained why he wanted to get the wristband made for his birthday, which is engraved with the words epilepsy and 2.6 2020: “I had the notches made as I’m proud of the help that my Roald Dahl Specialist Nurse, Kirsten gives me. She gives me support and helps me feel more confident and able to do sports and activities as I don’t have to worry about having a seizure. My 2.6 challenge walk was a big thank you for Kirsten. I don’t have to worry now she helps us.”
