A brand new, limited edition Quentin Blake print that pays homage to Roald Dahl and his wonderful storytelling.
This glorious portrait seemed like a fitting subject for our very first Museum exclusive print. Taken from the Quentin Blake illustrated cover of The Dahl Diary 1992 (the original version of My Year), Roald is depicted in the countryside he loved best, surrounded by many of his beloved characters.
My Year Exclusive Museum Print, £150 - £250, featuring a quote taken from the 1988 'The Author's Eye' interview with Roald Dahl.
It was during a fortuitous snoop in the Museum archive (carefully supervised of course) that the retail team were reminded of how wonderful the original cover of The Dahl Diary was. Following on from the successful republication of My Year in 2018, they decided that the cover illustration was too fabulous not to be shared.
This utterly unique, limited edition print is the result! Exclusive to the Museum and with a limited run of 195, it perfectly encapsulates Roald's magical world; set in the Chiltern countryside he drew much of his inspiration from and featuring many of the weird and wonderful characters he conjured up. Be sure to keep an eye out for the mouse from The Witches!
The original version of 'My Year', 'The Dahl Diary', was published in 1992 following Roald Dahl's death. Seen here in the archive.
The print is the perfect accompaniment to My Year, Roald's ode to the countryside in which he lived for over thirty years. Replete with childhood anecdotes, sage gardening advice and wry observations on the natural world it is a charming read, perfect for any Roald Dahl fan.
