Everyone's Business - Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity's newly launched campaign to raise awareness and improve the quality of healthcare for young people moving from child to adult services.

The move from children's to adult healthcare services can be very tough for young people with complex, long-term health conditions. Throughout their childhood, they may have had a lot of support from their family and health services to help them manage their illness. When their healthcare is managed by adult services and in the context of NHS funding challenges, the transition process can be a daunting time for any young person and their family. Consequently, there can be delays in treatment, their emotional needs are affected and young people can become disengaged with care. This can lead to increased hospital admissions and inhibit young people from living a full life. In response to this, Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity is investing over £300,000 to fund three new Roald Dahl Transition Nurse Specialists to help 'bridge the gap' in transition care for young people.

To bring awareness to the important issue of transition, Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity has launched a national awareness campaign called 'Transition - Everyone's Business' on 12 August which is also International Youth Day. As part of this campaign, the charity developed a series of video shorts which showcase different perspectives on transition. Roald Dahl Nurses, young people, a parent and charity representatives were all involved.
