Would you like to join a collaborative, innovative and creative team working for the world’s number one story-teller? Can you help us build Immersive Experiences around the stories and brand of Roald Dahl?

The Roald Dahl Story Company (RDSC) exists to protect and grow the cultural value of Roald Dahl’s stories now and for future generations. We believe that the intrinsic message of Dahl’s stories is that the world can be tough but with a combination of imagination, determination and heart everyone, no matter how small, can find their own wonky happiness. Our aim is to spread Roald Dahl’s stories far and wide, sharing their message and thereby positively impacting all who interact with our works.

RDSC manages the copyrights and brand of Roald Dahl and our slate of work ranges from new publishing, merchandise and digital products, to producing new plays, musicals and live entertainment, to activating major new films and television series.

Our Theatre department commissions, develops and produces new plays and musicals with a vision to create theatrical adaptations of Roald Dahl’s works which are innovative, relevant, populist and as brilliant as the original stories. The department is also developing projects in the fields of Circus arts, Immersive entertainment and Experiential events, which is why we are looking for an Immersive and Experiential Producer to join our team! You will lead on the development and producing of a range of live immersive entertainment projects and experiential events.

You’ll spend your time on the following:

  • You will develop Strategic and Financial plans for immersive and experiential work at RDSC, and you will work with co-production partners to develop business models and negotiate strong deals on each project
  • You will support Creative Development making sure that artistic teams are appropriately resourced and supported as they are generating ideas, and you will keep bringing our focus back to the experience of our audiences and consumers
  • Relationship management will also be a large part of your work – we will need you to identify, develop and consolidate appropriate partnerships for each project, and foster a collaborative environment and clear communication between RDSC and its partners, collaborators, stakeholders and rights holders
  • Alongside this strategic work, there are also elements of Project management and delivery for example working with co-producing partners to identify suitable locations. You will need to represent the interests of RDSC in the delivery of all phases of work
  • You will also spend some time on Additional Projects supporting the Theatre Department’s other projects, including in the field of Circus Arts

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Producer or Director of immersive entertainment or experiential events or theme parks (including at least 1 long-running commercially successful project)
  • Significant experience of developing, launching and maintaining immersive entertainment or experiential events or theme parks
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a good understanding of the commercial opportunities of the sector beyond brand activation i.e. revenue from tickets, merchandise, food & beverage
  • An ability to interpret and critique creative proposals, with a well-developed understanding of the challenges of producing live entertainment outside of traditional performance spaces
  • Enthusiasm for the fast-developing world of immersive entertainment, with a strong understanding of audience journeys and audience engagement in immersive or experiential events
  • An ability to develop and manage multi-partner projects, and work with a varied group of stakeholders
  • Understanding and enthusiasm for Roald Dahl’s stories, and sympathy with the vision of RDSC
  • Strong organisational, communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to work independently and with a team.

Preferably with:

  • Experience of capital development / building projects
  • Experience of working on events which include tech e.g. VR, app development, gaming
  • Experience of working with a major global brand and with (or for) an IP holder
  • An understanding of theatre, and creative development processes
