Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity marked International Nurses Day with a workshop for some of our Roald Dahl Nurses, followed by an exclusive tour of the Roald Dahl Museum.

The 12th May marked International Nurses Day and we celebrated this marvellous day by welcoming five of our Roald Dahl specialist children's Nurses to our office for a workshop followed by an exclusive visit to The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre.

The Roald Dahl Specialist Children's Nurses who work across the UK supporting seriously ill children came from Southampton General, the Whittington, Addenbrookes and Great Ormond Street Hospitals for the special day.

The workshop was a fantastic opportunity for the nurses to meet one another and discuss their roles with Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity and identify how paediatric nursing can have the biggest impact on children and young people. The workshop was also a great way of enhancing the support network for the nurses. An important focus for the charity is to help improve the leadership, research and project management skills of children's nurses, which is currently demonstrated through our Marvellous Nurse Inventing Room

Senior Programmes Manager Sophie Dziwinski was delighted to welcome the nurses, she said "Our Roald Dahl Nurses are at the forefront of what we do. Their views and opinions about how we can improve the support available to the families they care for is invaluable. We're really looking forward to working more closely with our nurses to develop this further in 2016 and beyond."

The day, which follows the recent International Nurses Day, was a great opportunity to say thank you to the Roald Dahl Specialist Children's Nurses for the incredible work they do to support over 15,000 seriously ill children and our sister charity, the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre invited them for an exclusive visit.

The nurses were taken on a tour of the museum and saw the Roald Dahl galleries as well as exciting items from the museum archives. The visit came to an end with a scrumdiddlyumptious trip to Café Twit. The nurses thoroughly enjoyed the day and we want to thank the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre for arranging the special visit.
