On World Book Day, Readathon founder talks about raising funds for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity

Today - and every year on World Book Day - school children around the UK take part in Readathon, the much loved sponsored reading event which also raises funds for children's charities including Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity.

Children taking part in Readathon over 2014 helped to raise £150,000 to help Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity make life better for seriously ill children around the UK. In fact, since 1991, reading for pleasure in schools has helped to raise a phizz-whizzing ten million pounds for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity.

To help celebrate this news on World Book Day, Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity talked to Readathon founder Brough Girling about Readathon's aims to encourage children to read for pleasure and its link to Roald Dahl.
