Esio Trot design competition

Help the Roald Dahl Museum create a terrifically tortoisy art exhibition by entering the Volunteens’ Esio Trot Tailored Tortoise Competition.

The tortoise community, headed by Alfie, is looking for the next big fashion designer. Alfie is requesting a new design for his tortoise shell - and that's where you come in.

Your competition entry may be in any material of your choice. It could be a 3D model, a 2D drawing, a collage, a diagram, or even a cake. If you'd prefer, you can use the template which is downloadable from the right hand side of this page to help you.

Your design should have:

  • A name
  • A good sense of fashion
  • A purpose – what the outfit is for

The Museum’s Volunteens will be judging the entries on creativity, artistic flair and/or humour. Anyone can enter as long as they are between 5 months and 500 years.

The shortlisted and winning entries will be displayed in a new exhibition in Miss Honey’s Classroom at the Museum. Winners will receive a family annual pass for the Museum, and some special tortoise-related treats from the Museum Shop.

To enter post or deliver your entries to:

Or email to volunteens@roalddahlmuseum.org by 5pm on Friday 6 February 2015.

Include your name, age and contact details.

Good luck!

Please note: Go as crazy as you like but please ensure no tortoises are harmed.
