In honour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory's 50th anniversary, we're showcasing some of the best-known quotes from this classic story.

"No good can ever come from spoiling a child like that, Charlie, you mark my words..." So says Charlie's Grandpa Joe about Golden Ticket winner Veruca Salt.

"Violet, you're turning violet, Violet!" - in the original story, it's Violet's mother Mrs Beauregarde who shrieks this as she watches her daughter turn a distinct shade of blueberry - but in the 1971 film, it's Violet's father who says these iconic words...
