The Roald Dahl Museum is on the hunt for 141 toy tortoises for a special Chiddlers’ Hour session and to raise money for storytelling in hospitals.
To celebrate the screening of Esio Trot on BBC One this New Year’s Day, the Museum is on a mission to collect 141 tortoises (including Alfie himself) – exactly like Mr Hoppy did in the book. Not real life tortoises of course, but soft cuddly ones instead. They will be used for a Chiddlers' Hour Esio Trot special next year (why not join in?), then raffled off to raise money for the Museum’s hospital storytelling programme, enabling Museum storytellers to bring a bit of Roald Dahl mischief into children’s hospital wards.
If you have any terrific soft toy tortoises you'd like to donate please feel free to drop them in to the Museum in Great Missenden, or give them a call for more information on 01494 892192. The toys you donate really will be turned into tall tales!
P.S The new adaptation of Esio Trot, starring Judi Dench and Dustin Hoffman, airs on BBC One at 6.30pm on New Year's Day. Don't miss it!
